Title: Extinction
There’s a scientist who says humans will go extinct in 100 years.
That’s nice. How does he arrive at that number?
He’s not really clear on that. But sometime in the next 100 years? You’re history.
What’s going to do us in?
Population growth. Hunger. Wars for resources.
But we’re living with that now.
Yes, but… The more people there are… The more likely you’ll destroy more people.
Well, duh. But I don’t see how that gets us to extinction.
If you disrupt the ecosystem to the point that the entire food chain collapses. Down you go.
What about beans and rice?
What about, beans and rice?
Why can’t we just drop back to a more simple diet?
With the food chain gone, the bees are gone. No bees, no pollination. No beans and rice.
We’ll invent robotic bees to pollinate the beans and rice. Nanobotic bees.
What about the cars? You can’t keep driving all those cars.
We’ll build walkable cities where we won’t need so many cars.
You seem to have a lot of faith in your technology.
It’s not faith. Humans are adaptable. We’ll change.
That sounds like work.
Taking responsibility always takes work. Sitting around and playing victim is the easy way out.
What about global warming? I’m getting hot. Why aren’t you doing anything about that yet?
Just wait. Once the coastal cities start going under? Then you’ll start seeing some action.
You have to wait for it to get that bad?
Apparently so. We seem to work best when there’s a crisis.
But it is crisis.
Not yet. When the banks start losing money, THEN it’s a crisis.
I think I’ll make some popcorn. This is going to get interesting to watch.
