I’m really mad at the Democrats, so I’m voting Republican this fall.

Why are you mad at the Democrats?

Because they didn’t do half the stuff they said they would do.

And you think the Republicans will be better at doing the stuff that you wanted the Democrats to do?

Well, no, but I’m mad at the Democrats so I want to punish them.

I understand why you’re mad, but it seems short-sighted to hurt the party that wants to do things that you want.

I don’t care about that, I just want to hurt them.

But if the Republicans get control of Congress, there’s no hope that the Democrats can do any more of the things that you want them to do.

What is it that they didn’t do that made you so mad?

They didn’t repeal Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and they didn’t put in the single payer government option in healthcare reform.

But they made progress on healthcare and DADT failed because the Republicans loaded it up with other unrelated legislation.

I don’t care.

If the Democrats keep control of Congress they can raise those issues again.

I don’t care.

If the Republicans win control of Congress, there’s no hope your issues will ever see the light of day.

I don’t care.

You’re like a spoiled child running from one parent to another, making demands on one that can’t be met, then running to the other and making more demands that can’t be met.

Yeah, but at least I have their attention.
